Personal Strengths Publishing,® Inc. is the company behind the SDI® (Strength Deployment Inventory®) and other inventories based on the theory of Relationship Awareness® — a group of ideas that help provide a window into the motivation that drives behavior.

Personal Strengths, USA is one of fourteen international offices that design and deliver programs and sell products rooted in Relationship Awareness. The Theory (and the inventories built around it) is the life’s work of Personal Strength Publishing’s founder, Elias H. Porter, Ph.D. Drawing from his experience as a psychologist, clinical therapist, educator, and author, he designed a practical methodology to help people improve relationships and manage conflict more effectively — increasing the effectiveness of an organizations most valuable resource... its people.

Dr. Porter's experience in clinical, industrial, military and governmental settings provided the rich diversity of environments needed to validate a comprehensive theory of relationships and the suite of SDI inventories based on that theory.  He founded Personal Strengths in 1971 and served as President until his death in December, 1987. Today, there are Personal Strengths offices all over the world and the SDI is available in nineteen languages.
